The Adventures of Tom BombadilA collection of 16 poems, 2 of which feature the character Tom Bombadil. Other poems appear as part of the narrative in ‘The Lord of the Rings’. ‘Errantry’ where Tolkien uses an unusual poetic meter consisting of trisyllabic assonances. This developed into ‘Earendil the Mariner’ that appears in ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ where an excerpt from ‘The Man in the Moon came down too soon’ also features. ‘Stone Troll’ and ‘Oliphaunt’ also appear and are present as examples of ‘hobbit poetry’.
